DUART CASTLE 1 |
 |
Duart Castle, seat of Clan MacLean
for hundreds of years, stands on Duart point, and makes a striking first
impression on travellers coming to the Island from Oban.
The castle is a spit from
Craignure, just off the A849 heading for Fionnphort, and boasts an
excellent tea room which reputedly bakes to the recipe's of Lady Elizabeth
herself.
The castle has featured in a
number of films, most prominantly 'When Eight Bells Toll' and
'Entrapment', but it can also be seen briefly in the background in the
Powell and Pressburger classic, 'I Know where I'm Going'.
